You may have fooled yourself!

When you gaze in a mirror, you are seeing yourself. You do not see what you will be 5 years from now and you do not see what you were 5 years ago, no you are seeing what you already are right now. The amazing thing is, when you stare into the Word of God (Jesus Christ) you are looking as into a mirror! You are seeing who you truly are. You are in His image and in His likeness. There is no distance between you and Him. You and Him are one.

You may have fooled yourself. You may look at the dirt on the outside of a coin and just see dirt, nasty dirt, but God looks straight through that and He sees the coin. He sees value. Dirt or no dirt, the coin is still a coin and still has the same worth. If even one of His coins goes missing, He will light a lamp (a flame of passion will ignite within Him) and He will search until He finds it! You are that coin that He places such a high value upon. You might see dirt, but He knows you better then you know yourself. He sees straight through and sees you.

When a coin is lost, what does the coin do? Sprout legs and run to its master? No! The coin is helpless and lays there in the dust. The owner is the one who does the searching, the finding, the retrieving, the cleaning. You can't help yourself, you can't clean yourself. Your Owner has done that for you! He sought after you, He found you, He cleaned you up.

How did He find you? How did He accomplish this? He found you in Christ! He came in our darkest moment of human history to reveal Himself and to reveal us. He became fully human and represented the human race. He also is fully God and fully expresses His complete being. In His incarnation, He shows us something we would never have believed. He shows us humanity and God are compatible with one another and He shows us God is so radically different then we ever thought He was!

He isn't afraid of our mess. He gets in the middle of it and makes Himself at home with us. He spends time with the low lives, the drunks, the prostitutes, the nobodies. He doesn't care about reputation. He moves with compassion, He heals the sick and the broken hearted. He swings a whip at the religious thieving upon the innocent. He reaches out to those no one cares about. He flips our concepts. He shows us true lordship is being a servant. He reveals to us a lifestyle so out of this world, that even the greatest rule system on earth cannot even produce it! He shows a life where you can have flesh torn off your body, and look your accusers in the eyes and have genuine love and not hold a sin against them! To have love consume every step and word you speak. Where you see value in others and speak well of those who curse you. Where you keep no record of wrongs, where you go above and beyond, where you have no hidden agendas and live in fulfillment, peace, joy, and absolute contentment. Where there is unhindered fellowship within the Godhead.

The life He lived is amazing. Yet the mystery of the gospel is just as amazing! It is not Jesus recorded in history, dwelling in the shadows, or out in space somewhere, no the mystery is Christ in YOU! His life is YOUR life! You are one with Him. You are His address, His body, His temple, His pride and joy. There is nowhere else where He would rather dwell! That SAME life He lived is YOUR life now. As He is, so are you in this world. When you stare at Jesus, you are staring as in a mirror. You are actually seeing yourself there! You may have fooled yourself and everyone else. You may have thought you were nothing but dirt but He took the initiative when you were helpless and pulled you out. He redeemed His image and likeness in us. You are not the product of your own efforts but the product of God. He created you. He dreamed you up. He designed you and He knows you better then you know yourself. He knows who you truly are. Discover His thoughts about your life. Gaze upon Jesus. Remember Him, remember yourself!
